Can you have Sky and Virgin Media broadband in the same house?
Sky and Virgin Media use separate infrastructure to deliver broadband and TV. While Sky uses Openreach’s copper and fibre network, Virgin Media uses its own cable network. That means you can technically have both Sky and Virgin Media broadband at the same house.
But in the vast majority of cases, it will be cheaper and simpler to find another alternative to two separate broadband connections.
If your concern is that your broadband isn’t fast enough, or one family member is struggling to game while another watches Netflix, you can resolve that by opting for one faster package from a single provider.
All homes reached by Virgin Media can now access broadband with download speeds of 1.1Gbps (1,100Mbps), while more than the six million homes reached by Openreach’s full-fibre network can get 1Gbps broadband with Sky. Those speeds will provide more than enough bandwidth to accommodate multiple users doing data-intensive activities online.
If you have Sky broadband and want Virgin Media TV, you can get it without signing up for Virgin Media broadband. Similarly, if you have Virgin Media broadband and want Sky TV, you can sign up without any need for Sky broadband.
