How do I cancel my Virgin Media broadband package?
The best way to cancel your broadband package with Virgin Media is over the phone.
You can reach the provider’s Customer Service team by dialling 150 from a Virgin Media landline or Virgin Mobile device, or calling 0345 454 1111 from any other phone. You’ll hear a series of options. Select the one that says “If you’re thinking of leaving Virgin Media.”
Alternatively, you can send a text with a description of the cancellation to 07533 051809. A representative will respond to you as soon as possible, although it might take a few days.
You can also cancel in writing, by sending a letter to:
Virgin Media
Sunderland
SR43 4AA
Make sure you include your account number, address, full name, and phone number hen sending a letter. Virgin Media will likely phone you to discuss the cancellation.
You have to give 30 days’ notice to cancel. That will likely mean you’ll pay one more bill to Virgin Media before your service ceases.
But you may face additional charges for leaving if you’re still within your minimum contract period (usually 9, 12, or 18 months). These Early Disconnection Fees vary between customers, but are calculated based on the services you have, how much you pay for them, and how much of your minimum period remains for each service.
You’ll still face these Early Disconnection fees even if you’re moving to a property where Virgin Media isn’t available (around 40% of all homes in the UK).
If you’re on a 30-day rolling contract or you’re out of contract (as Ofcom estimates around a third of broadband customers are), you can cancel without penalty with 30 days’ notice.
